Description
When your Bush Hog rotary cutter’s tail wheel starts wobbling or the bearing assembly feels loose, it’s usually this axle nut that’s worn out or backing off. For old-style Bush Hog rotary cutters using two tapered roller bearings, this nut keeps everything properly tensioned and aligned. Without it doing its job right, you’ll end up with premature bearing wear and a rough ride across the field.
What You’re Getting
- Heavy-duty threaded nut designed specifically for the old-style Bush Hog bearing setup
- Proper fit that maintains correct bearing preload and prevents wheel wobble
- Durable construction that handles the constant vibration and impact of brush cutting
- Direct replacement part that installs just like the original
Built for Real Farm Work
This axle nut fits a wide range of Bush Hog rotary cutters from the smaller 12-footers up through the big 1400 series models. Whether you’re cutting pastures, maintaining fence rows, or clearing brush around ponds, these older Bush Hog cutters with the two-bearing tail wheel design have been workhorses on farms for decades.
Made to Last
Bush Hog built these cutters to take a beating, and this nut is engineered to match that durability. It’s designed to stay tight under the constant jarring and vibration that comes with hitting stumps, rocks, and thick brush. The threads are cut to handle the stress without stripping or loosening up over time.
Installation Notes
This nut threads onto the axle spindle to secure the outer bearing race and adjust bearing preload. When installing, snug it down until the bearings have just a slight amount of drag when you spin the wheel by hand—too tight and you’ll burn up the bearings, too loose and you’ll get play in the wheel. A little grease on the threads helps prevent it from seizing on there.
